Undercover in LA’s Gig Economy and An Investigation into Monsanto’s Deception Around Glyphosate, Found in RoundUp

Melissa Chadburn discusses her new piece in the Economic Hardship Reporting Project called “The Human Cost of the Ghost Economy.” She talks about her year spent undercover at a temp agency in Los Angeles and what is going on in the largely invisible, sub-contracted work place.
In the second half, we discuss glyphosate, one of the most common herbicides around the world. It’s also one of the ingredients in RoundUp, a known cancer-causing agent. A two-year investigation by In These Times and Valerie Brown shows that Monsanto repeatedly shoddy scientific studies attempted to prove to regulatory bodies that glyphosate was safe.
