Undercover in LA’s Gig Economy and An Investigation into Monsanto’s Deception Around Glyphosate, Found in RoundUp

Melissa Chadburn¬†discusses her new piece in the Economic Hardship Reporting Project called “The Human Cost of the Ghost Economy.” She talks about her year spent undercover at a temp agency in Los Angeles and what is going on in the largely invisible, sub-contracted work place.
In the second half, we discuss glyphosate, one of the most common herbicides around the world. It’s also one of the ingredients in RoundUp, a known cancer-causing agent. A two-year investigation by In These Times and Valerie Brown shows that Monsanto repeatedly shoddy scientific studies attempted to prove to regulatory bodies that glyphosate was safe.
