The California State Senate President unveils legislation to require 100% of the state’s electricity be generated by clean renewable sources by 2045. Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan expresses optimism about the prospects for a new bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, but indications are that he doesn’t have enough support of more moderate Republicans to win House approval. A suburban Dallas police chief acknowledges that an officer who fatally shot a black 15 year old in a moving vehicle fired as the car was driving away — and not as it reversed towards officers, as the department previously asserted.  A family attorney accuses the officer of “sheer recklessness”.
