Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe contradicts the White House claim that fired  FBI Director James Comey had lost the confidence of the rank and file of the FBI, telling the Senate Intelligence Committee the claim is “not accurate”. California Governor Jerry Brown releases his revised budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1 and warns “cuts are coming”.  Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price says the arrest of a journalist who repeatedly asked him a question was warranted. A television and radio association condemns the arrest. Ahead of Mother’s Day, local groups supporting jailed African American women holds a “National Mamas Bail Out Day”.
