Republican Senators employ the “nuclear option” in a party line vote to change filibuster rules so a vote to proceed to confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch can proceed with a simple majority, instead of the 60 vote filibuster margin. House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes recuses himself from leading the committee probe into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election. The United States says it hopes for a vote late today on a resolution that would condemn the chemical attack  that killed dozens of people in Syria’s Idlib province. The California lawmakers may toil late into the night on Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed five billion dollar a year gasoline tax and vehicle fee proposal to fix the state’s crumbling roads and bridges and boost spending on public transit.
