Northern California Wildfires and Diplomacy with Iran

Today our host Philip Maldari, filling in for Mitch Jeserich, is in conversation with Mark Schwartz, a professor of plant ecology in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at UC Davis. He will be discussing the raging Northern California wildfires that are consuming vast swaths of the state and have so far claimed 17 lives.

Ahead of President Trump’s anticipated announcement to ‘decertify’ Iran and thus put President Obama’s historic 2015 Iran deal in jeopardy, we also speak with Trita Parsithe president of the National Iranian American Council. His new book, Losing an Enemy: Obama, Iran and the Triumph of Diplomacy, draws upon over 70 in-depth interviews with diplomats and political players on all sides of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that secured a non-nuclear Tehran and avoided a war between the US and Iran.
