Prashad is a fine, intelligent , philosopher and journalist. When Prashad talks about getting to know your neighbor, socialize, develop neighborhood projects(like a neighborhood food garden, women’s rights clubs, the sharing of necessities, neighborhood social events, medical care etc), the Russian Revolution is not the right paradigm. The Paris Commune of 1871 is a better model for forming districts or neighborhood social and utility organization. But you do need some things centralized like defense. When the French King’s Army came back to take Paris and commit many atrocities , the communards just said defend your own districts. The Paris Commune’s National Guard, their weaponry, the citizens if organized to defend the commune could have beaten the old regime’s take back of Paris
