Paul Robeson was an American singer, actor, and Civil Rights activist. He became politically involved in response to the Spanish Civil War, fascism, and social injustices. His advocacy of anti-imperialism, affiliation with communism, and criticism of the United States government caused him to be blacklisted during the McCarthy era.

I want my public library to have the Paul Robeson boxed set from Criterion (narrated by Sidney Poitier), but I don’t have enough money to put up a $200 pledge. Could I pledge $50, and another 7 people pledge $50, and we send the package to the Oakland Public Library?
