3pm-4pm Unhoused women in Oakland
Award winning KPFA reporter Lucy Kang brings us two documentaries featuring unhoused women who are finding ways to survive and build community on the streets of Oakland, California. California has the largest number of unhoused people in the country. In places like Oakland, folks are organizing themselves into self governed communities. Many of these communities are lead by women. In “The Community of Grace,” and “Evicted,” Lucy explores the specific challenges faced by unhoused women.
