On today’s program we discussed the mass arrest of peaceful protesters in El Cajon, California at the site of last month’s fatal police shooting of Alfred Olango, a 38 year-old, Black, disabled man who was unarmed when shot and killed on September 27, in a confrontation with police in the parking lot of a shopping center at Broadway and North Mollison, in El Cajon. The shooting led to several nights of protest by members in the community who argued the shooting was unjustified. We spoke with Lisa Covington, a professor at San Diego state that has been present at the actions and Kuttin Kandi, a community activist, but more known as a DJ extraordinaire. She plays many important roles in the music business, Hip-Hop culture, and the community.
