Nappy Tour: Affirming Black Beauty and Prison Nation

Candice Antique and Hodari Davis discuss the roots of the Nappy Tour, that focuses on affirming natural black beauty, and highlighting the experience of Africans who have been extracted from “home” and “replanted” in the diaspora. The music and art created throughout the tour will highlight African and African American influences and will be performed in the US, Uganda, Ghana, Trinidad and Rotterdam. They will be releasing their album and videos in the US when they return in September / October.

Candice Antique Davis and Hodari Davis are the principles of Edutainment for Equity, an international professional consulting and music production company based in Oakland, USA. She is a singer songwriter with extensive international touring experience. She holds a Master’s in Education and integrates her work as an educator with her music in presentations, public performances, workshops, and other formats.

Hodari Davis is a social activist, poet, and teacher with extensive production experience. He holds a Master’s in Education and has served as the Executive Producer of the largest youth poetry festival in the world for the past 10+ years. Hodari is an entrepreneur and social innovator who uses poetry and Hip Hop to restore pride in Black children and communities.
