At the beginning of the show you boast about KPFA being entirely listener-supported, including receiving “no government funding, no support from the state.” Then you go on to contrast KPFA’s “real news” with various kinds of “fake news” including “news that omits crucial information.” But when you boast about getting no government funding, surely you yourself are omitting crucial information: that Pacifica is by law entitled to funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, subject only to minimal non-editorial requirements, and that the only reason Pacifica no longer gets that money is that it has for several years failed to turn in the required audit of its books! Please stop pretending that incompetence or malfeasance is proof of independence!
