Two leaders of the original struggle for Ethnic Studies and Open Admissions for Black and Latino students at San Francisco State in 1968. James Garrett and Clarence Thomas, were leaders in the successful San Francisco State Strike which established ethnic studies and the admission of Black and Latino students.
