In January, some 3,500 people gathered in Memphis for the 3rd National
Conference on Media Reform
. Most of the prime-time keynote speeches were given by big-name stars, most of whom were men. But, women had a lot to say in panel sessions and evening plenary sessions, and much of it was critical of the exclusion from the media reform movement of people of color and of women in general. Sandra Lupien of the KPFA Evening News was at the conference and will bring you the voices of women, including Pacifica Radio’s Deepa Fernandez and Sonali Kolkatkar, as well as Rosa Clemente, Geneva Overholser, and more…
