James Salter (1925-2015) was what’s known as a writer’s writer. Author of several novels, screenplays (including the Robert Redford film Downhill Racer) collections of essays and short fiction and travel works, he came on tour to Berkeley for his memoir, Burning the Days, and was interviewed at KPFA on October 7, 1997 by Richard Wolinsky and Richard A. Lupoff.

Ann Rule (1931-2015) was one of America’s leading true crime authors, with over thirty books to her name. She died on July 26, 2015. In 1995, Richard Wolinsky and Richard A. Lupoff sat down to speak with Ann Rule about her latest book, Dead by Sunset, which dealt with an urbane charming murderer named Brad Cunningham, and about the O.J. Simpson trial, occurring while the interview was taking place.


Jonathan Moscone is currently the Chief of Civic Engagement for Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. A theater director and playwright, he spent the past fifteen years as Artistic Director for California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes). He talks about his new position, and about working on Shakespeare and other plays with host Richard Wolinsky.
