Join KPFA for our next monthly movie matinee as we screen a timely film highlighting revolution, commercialism, and capitalism, The Hunger Games Saturday, July 27th at the New Parkway Theater with an after movie discussion hosted by Movie Matinee Coordinator and Upfront Friday host Jeannine Etter.
Plot: In post-apocalyptic North America, 12 impoverished districts are forced, partly as punishment for a past rebellion against the state, to select a child to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games where participants fight to the death until only one remains. District 12’s Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) must weigh survival… against love. The film also stars Woody Harelson and Donald Sutherland.
