East Bay Youth Media Awards PosterThe East Bay Youth Media Awards will honor the contributions of youth ages 13 to 25 in the fields of print journalism, radio, video production and digital media.  Numerous classes, after-school programs, and nonprofit organizations in the East Bay offer youth in-depth training and experience in reporting and media production.  The youth will be nominated by their peers and adult supporters to receive awards in various aspects of media.  This event is a fundraising initiative to benefit three youth media organizations; Youth Radio, KDOL Media Enterprise Alliance, and United Roots:

  • Youth Radio, a nationally recognized media program established over 20 years ago and recently celebrated by the White House as a recipient of a 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award;

  • KDOL Media Enterprise Alliance, an award-winning Oakland school-based media-arts program serving hundreds of inner-city youth with the goal of keeping young people engaged in school, and developing criteria for college admission, and job placement.

  • United Roots, a grassroots urban media and arts organization with comprehensive education and training programs for urban youth.

On behalf of our office and the event host committee, we would be honored for your partnership in support of young people dreaming of a career in the wide array of opportunities in the world of media communications.
