June 26, 2018 – UAW 2865 Challenges UC Armed Police And Juneteenth Coroner Protest

WorkWeek Radio looks at the call for an end to the militarization and armed police on the campuses of UC by UAW 2865 which represents over 10,000 graduate students. We interview UC Davis UAW 2865 stewards Blu Buchanan and Amara Miller about their contract negotiations on these issues. The university is refusing to even provide information on how many UC police there are the budget of this militarization.
We then hear from workers from the Medical Examiner’s office who spoke at the SF Labor Council about the physical attacks on SEIU 1021 members by the medical examiner’s staff with his personal support. We interview Brenda Barros, SEIU 1021 San Francisco General Hospital Chapter Chair, Daniel Becker, SEIU 1021 field rep and Cheryl Thornton, SEIU 1021 Steward and Potrero Hill Health Center worker.
