Women’s Rituals with Judy Grahn and Tarita Maree

Today on KPFA Radio’s Women’s Magazine we talk to two women who are helping us to reimagine rituals and cosmologies that break with the patriarchal society we live in.  First we talk to path-breaking lesbian poet and scholar Judy Grahn who returns to the stories of Inanna, the Mesopotamian goddess of erotic love and justice, to reimagine the contemporary world in her new book Eruptions of Inanna: Justice Gender and Erotic Power.  After that we talk to author and activist Tarita Maree who is creating a world where we reimagine how we deal with menstruation and menopause beyond the shame and fear that women live under in this patriarchal society. Tarita has spent 20 years bringing conversations about women’s bioreprosexual health to the forefront and now she’s putting it in books. Today we’ll talk about her acclaimed book First Blood, a collection of stories about our 1st periods. As well as her upcoming book Last Blood which focuses on the experience of menopause.
