On today’s show we’ll examine the various impacts that violence and sexism have on women. We’ll start with a conversation with Brenda Gutierrez, the organizer of this weekend’s #MeToo Survivor’s march taking place in Hollywood – the epicenter of the recent Harvey Weinstein revelations. Then, we’ll examine a study probing the dearth of women of color among physicians nationwide. My guest Irene Calimlim who co-authored a study on the issue will go through the major barriers facing women of color medical students and doctors. Finally, a study focusing on trauma at the border will be our third segment. Psychology researcher Luz Garcini will share with us how and why undocumented immigrants, particularly women, face skyrocketing levels of trauma in border communities.
