The Mission and Gentrification in San Francisco

Carty Cordova, interviewed by Brian Edwards-Tiekert, discusses the history of latinidad in San Francisco and the ongoing gentrification of the Mission neighborhood in San Francisco. Her book The Heart of the Mission discusses the district’s history and the rich art universe that emerged out of the Mission. Paul Madonna, a comic artist for the San Francisco Chronicle and creator of All Over Coffee, discusses his eviction from his Mission neighborhood apartment. He captured this experience in All Over Coffee and mentions the ongoing process of aggressive gentrification in San Francisco.
