1:34 – In the wake of a massive inmate hunger strike and work stoppage at Santa Rita jail, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors has made no action. We speak with John Lindsay-Poland is with the American Friends Service Committee and the Audit Ahern campaign, on why advocates are calling for an audit of the jail. 

Yasmin Reyes is the mother of Raymond Reyes, age 22, who was found dead in Santa Rita on July 24, 2019. She was told his death was a suicide, but doesn’t believe it. She wasn’t allowed to see his body, or have any of his belongings. She wants answers about her son’s unexpected death, and is calling for an audit and major reforms to Santa Rita jail.
