On today’s show, hosts Cat Brooks and Mitch Jeserich play us clips from the Paul Robeson documentaries The Emperor Jones” and “Paul Robeson: A Tribute to the Artist.”

Paul Robeson was an American singer, actor, and Civil Rights activist. He became politically involved in response to the Spanish Civil War, fascism, and social injustices. His advocacy of anti-imperialism, affiliation with communism, and criticism of the United States government caused him to be blacklisted during the McCarthy era.

The Paul Robeson documentary box set is being offered as a thank you gift for a donation to KPFA.
