Prison Strike, Bay Area Theatre and The Government Shutdown

Tio Brooke of the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee joins UpFron to speak with us about the labour strike in Florida’s prisoners, where those incarcerated are forced to work for no pay under brutal conditions. The strike is expected to start this week. “The Birthday Party” at ACT’s Geary Theatre is running through February 4th. We hear about the dark and controversial British comedy filled with notable theatrical talent. Scott Baker, a Professor of Finance at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, has co-authored a study on the economic impacts of the last government shutdown in 2013. We hear from him this morning about the economic impact of the most recent government shutdown.
