Net Neutrality with Scott Wiener, Sexual Misconduct Cases and The Jim Crow South

As debate and discussion about Net Neutrality and the political implications of its dismantling continue, Timothy Karr, the Senior Director of Strategy at Free Press joins UpFront this morning. The Free Press is preparing a lawsuit to challenge the Federal Communications Commission’s dismantling of net neutrality and launching a campaign to demand that Congress overturn the decision. State Senator Scott Wiener represents California State Senate District 11, which includes San Francisco, and is working on legislation to bring net neutrality rules to the state. He discusses the proposed legislation with our hosts. As the number of incidents involving sexual misconduct increase, Bernice Yeung speaks on the air about the cases that are being overlooked. Bernice is a journalist for Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting. She investigated the under-reported story of sexual assault against immigrant workers, including farm workers and night janitors. Afterwards, author Beth Macy is interviewed about her book, True Vine: Two Brothers, A Kidnapping, and a Mother’s Quest: A True Story of the Jim Crow South.
