Trump’s FCC Is Racing to Overturn Net Neutrality

Despite overwhelming public and business opposition to repealing net neutrality, the Federal Communications Commission chair Ajit Pai has announced a vote on a rule change on December 14th. Overturning rules that protect net neutrality could jeopardize the future of the internet in favor of profits for a handful of telecomm giants like AT&T, ComCast, and Verizon. On today’s show we’ll turn to Ernesto Falcon with the Electronic Frontier Foundation about what’s at stake. Then, we’ll spend the rest of the hour with Ramesh Srinivasan discussing how the Internet is actually already broken. His new book, co-authored with Adam Fish is entitled After The Internet. We’ll discuss how rather than undermining social and economic inequalities, the Internet as it is designed today reinforces it, and how many communities are pioneering the way forward.
