Ralph,
Bill Clinton, while he may have avoided serving in the Vietnam War, did NOT “allow” his friends to go and serve in his place.
For all those who are confused on this issue, common individuals did NOT allow anything — they were too busy either trying to go, hence volunteering, or had NO CHOICE when they got drafted. Or, they were very busy trying NOT to go, and for those who did not believe in the war, or were actively against the war, it seems to me were definitely trying not to go and did NOT wish their friends to serve. I’m sure Bill Clinton was very unhappy if/when any of his friends had to go against their wishes.
Your inference that Clinton was perfectly happy w/others serving while he avoided the issue reflects poorly upon your argument about this issue.
