Protesters clash with police in Charlotte, North Carolina, after the fatal police shooting of an African American man, Keith Lamont Scott.  In Berkeley, activists take to the streets to support the family of a transgender African American woman, Kayla Moore ahead of a Friday hearing on a wrongful death lawsuit. A “diapers not detention”  protest at House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco office calls for an end to the detention of refugee mothers and children who fled violence in Central America. The United Nations says it will resume aid convoys to Syria  after an attack on a convoy killed 20 people and prompted a temporary suspension. Homeless rights advocates say anti-homeless fear mongering may have led to the paintball attack against a homeless man on the streets of San Francisco. The man is in the hospital with possible brain damage.
