The U.S. and Israel sign a landmark agreement giving Israel a ten-year 38 billion dollar military aid package. It’s the largest such U.S. military aid deal in  history. The ACLU, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International launch a campaign to win a pardon for National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, still in exile in Moscow.  Governor Brown signs climate bills aimed at ensuring low income communities of color benefit from a polluter’s fund. The Richmond City Council fails to enact an emergency moratorium on certain rent hikes and no-cause evictions. Tenants say landlords are hurrying to evict them and hike rents ahead of a November vote on a rent control initiative.
