Donald Trump names Republican Party insider Reince Priebus as chief of staff and alt-right standard bearer Stephen Bannon as his chief strategist, saying the two will work as equal partners. President Obama with his first post-election comments, backs off his dire warnings and dark predictions about a Trump presidency, expressing hope the office will remake the man. Mayor Ed lee leads a¬†unity rally at San Francisco City Hall. He throws down the gauntlet, saying city leaders will not abandon the sanctuary city policies protecting undocumented immigrants — even at the risk of hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding. Bay Area high school students continue their walkouts from class to protest Trump’s election. North Dakota state officials shut down the capitol in the face of renewed protest over the Dakota Access Pipeline.
