President Donald Trump names Appeals Court Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Democratic Senators and judicial watch group warn that Trump used a litmus test in picking him. A California State Senate committee approves legislation to make the state a sanctuary state, barring local police from working with federal agents to enforce immigration laws. San Francisco files suit against the Trump Administration for its executive order attempting to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities. Senate Democrats boycott a committee meeting┬áthat was set to on Georgia Republican Tom Price’s nomination as Health Secretary and Steve Mnuchin’s nomination as Treasurer, citing incomplete information on business dealings and conflicts for the two nominees. A party line committee vote of 12-11 sends the Betsy DeVos nomination as Education Secretary to the Senate floor. Key Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee say they’ll vote against Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions’ nomination as Attorney General.
