Democrats grill Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions,  President-Elect Donald Trump’s choice to be Attorney General. California Governor Jerry Brown’s choice to be California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, testifies to a state confirmation hearing. Governor Brown  unveils a state budget with billions of dollars of uncertainty  because of possible looming federal budget cuts. Thousands of University of California workers stage a walkout over charges of unfair bargaining — wages are a key issue in dispute for the largely female and person of color workforce. Alameda County Supervisors weigh whether to continue sponsoring the Urban Shield police training program over the objections of community members who say it fosters militarized policing.
