The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refuses to lift a temporary restraining order against President Trump’s ban on entry to the U.S. of nationals from seven predominantly Muslim nations. Former Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions is sworn in as Attorney General at an Oval Office ceremony. He says the U.S. needs to end the “lawlessness” of undocumented immigration. The Senate opens debate on the nomination of Georgia Republican Tom Price as Health and Human Services Secretary with charges that he told “Trumpian lies” to the Senate Finance Committee over his investments.  100 year old African American Iris Canada  could be evicted at any time from her San Francisco apartment. California Assemblymembers say they want a higher priority on environmental justice in the state’s strategy to fight climate change.
