Senate Republicans silence Elizabeth Warren for criticizing Republican Senator and Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions by reading a letter from Coretta Scott King three decades ago. The uproar precedes a  53-47 largely party-line vote confirming Sessions’ nomination. President Donald Trump takes a jab at the federal appeals court panel considering his travel ban saying courts see to be “so political”.  The Standing Rock Sioux call for a national day of protest after the Army says it will allow resumption of construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline. Protesters block the entrance to the San Francisco Federal Building. At the State Capitol, Assembly Democrats introduce a “California Welcomes Refugees” legislative package.
