The Pacifica Evening News, Trump Address Joint Congress – February 28, 2017

President Donald Trump addresses a joint session of Congress. Los Angeles Congresswoman Maxine Waters stays away. Other Democrats invite young undocumented “Dreamers” and Muslim-Americans to attend the speech. San Francisco  District Attorney George Gascón and  the Consul General of Mexico  sign an agreement on protecting  immigrant communities  experiencing an an increase in hate crimes, but who fear reporting them could lead to deportation. A protest at UCSF by information technology workers whose jobs were outsources overseas after they were forced to train their replacements. Protesters outside Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office urge the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee not to vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
