Chicago police release video of officers firing repeatedly at a stolen car, then handcuffing mortally wounded 18 year old Paul O’Neal, who was unarmed. The O’Neal family attorney said police took “street justice into their own hands.”  San Francisco police use force against black people more often than against any other racial group, according to statistics in a quarterly report the SFPD is required to make public. Alameda County Supervisors vote to turn over health services at the country jail to a new private contractor after the current provider Corizon was sued in the death of inmates. The Olympics open in Brazil as the country reels from political and economic turmoil.
