Academy Award-winning composer David Shire, whose film scores include “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three,” “The Conversation,” “Norma Rae,” “All the President’s Men,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “Return to Oz,” and “Zodiac,” visits with host Derk Richardson and plays music on the KPFA studio piano. Shire is in a two-day residency hosted by the San Francisco State University Department of Music. Bay Area composer Steve Horowitz, a Shire admirer and organizer of the residency, will be on hand, as well.
