Maurice Tani calls his original West Coast country sound “Supercalifornigraphic.” The native San Franciscan is a storytelling singer-songwriter who happens to tear up the stage with his guitar playing. Previewing his Friday, June 8, concert at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, Tani performs live in the KPFA performance studio with Henry Salvia on piano and Pam Brandon on bass and vocals. Expect to hear a few new songs as well as tunes from Tani’s most recent album The Lovers Card.

In the second hour, filmmaker Bob Sarles talks with host Derk Richardson about Bang! The Bert Berns Story. The music documentary, just out on DVD, profiles the legendary producer who made seminal records with Van Morrison, Solomon Burke, Neil Diamond, and others.
