Jazz vocalist Lisa Engelken performs live in the KPFA studio and chats with host Derk Richardson.

A Kansas native who moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Washington DC where she played in a ’90s cabaret-rock band called The Zimmermans, Engelken has recorded two jazz-vocal albums, 2010’s “Caravan” and 2013’s “Little Warrior.” She’ll be performing Saturday, June 13, at the Musically Minded Academy┬áin Oakland, with pianist Frank Martin, bassist Sam Bevan, drummer Matt Swindells, and vibraphonist Dan Neville. Tonight she sings with Martin accompanying her on piano. Tony Ferro engineers.
