Pete Madsen and Celeste Kopel perform live on The Hear and Now – January 3, 2019

Host Derk Richardson welcomes guitarist Pete Madsen and singer Celeste Kopel as they perform music from their recent CD, From the Delta and Beyond, live in the KPFA performance studio, with Tony Ferro engineering. The new album surveys the blues from Robert Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and Skip James to T-Bone Walker, Willie Dixon, and K.C. Douglas. As I wrote on Peghead Nation, “In the rearview mirror we see Big Bill Broonzy, Sam Cooke, John Mayall, the Rolling Stones, Cream, David Lindley, and Ry Cooder merging into a mirage that dissolves into the distance.
