Census forms start arriving in the mail March 12. The information gathered helps determine the allocation of federal funds for schools, roads, hospitals and other important local services. Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign for President has excited many young people and people on the political left. But, some progressives say the Sanders’ campaign is based only on Sanders and doesn’t have the political movement behind it to propel it beyond his base of supporters. Author and academic Michael Walzer’s latest piece in Tablet magazine takes a critical look at the limits of the Sanders phenomenon.

Then, Berlin-based American scholar and author Susan Neiman discusses her latest book “Learning From the Germans: Race and the Memory of Evil.” In it, Nieman argues that America could learn a lot from Germany’s national effort to reckon with its Nazi past as America struggles to deal with the ghosts of slavery and segregation.
