Saluting International Women’s Month, Sing Out features a live in-studio performance by the Berkeley High School jazz combo The Girls and Pépé. The quintet features students who are also members of the Berkeley High orchestra, bands and the acclaimed Jazz Ensemble. The original drummer Pépé graduated, but the group continues its tradition of using a male drummer with Dash Goss-Post, along with bassist Kati Leitner, pianist Anna Bettendorf, flutist Kyra Teigen and saxophonist Laurel Fink. The band was an anchor of the recent JazzGirls Day at Berkeley High. Also, some members will be in the Berkeley High Jazz Ensemble when it performs Duke Ellington’s “Black, Brown and Beige” with the Berkeley Symphony on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 4 p.m. at UC Berkeley’s Zellerbach Auditorium.  Information on that concert and all things Berkeley High Jazz: http://www.bhsjazz.org
