Sing Out Features Live Performances from Berkeley High Chamber Ensembles

Sing Out welcomes three chamber ensembles from the Berkeley High School music program, playing live in the KPFA performance studio. A string quintet, a piano and trumpet duo, and a brass quintet demonstrate only some of the range of the school’s music programs. They are performing as a preview of the annual Berkeley High Chamber Music concert with two dozen more groups on Thursday, January 30, at the schools’ Florence Schwimley Little Theater, 1980 Allston Way (two blocks from downtown Berkeley BART station). Tonight’s groups are drawn from the concert band and orchestra classes directed by Karen Wells and Mary Dougherty (BHS also boasts four jazz ensembles, jazz combos and other music and dance classes).
