  1. There’s a significant difference between Latinos in America we share opposing views, and similarities. Media in general likes to characterize us as a monolithic voting block that’s democratic party. Cubans in Florida are overwhelmingly republican, then we have Mexicans in southern western states which are majority democratic however their votes are enormously suppress due to factors like gerrymandering, republicans closing down voting booths in predominately Mexican neighborhoods, money in politics, exclusivity in established positions that have been already claimed, etc. These are NOT helping Latinos vote in these areas because the illusion of politics is something that’s already been decided.

    What needs to happen is real legislation that will prevent gerrymandering and money in politics within these states. We cannot continue fighting without acknowledging there’s a significant voter suppression going on and it needs to stop.
