Rising Up With Sonali 5am

Could Deb Haaland Become Congress’ First Native American Woman Member?

Congress has never ever had a Native American female representative. In the face of that shocking fact a number of indigenous women are running for office this year and on our show today we’ll speak with one of them – Deb Haaland, running in New Mexico’s June 5th primary to represent that state’s first district. Then, psychotherapist Dr. Enrico Gnaulati will join us to discuss how despite the rising levels of depression and anxiety in the US, health insurers and “big pharma” are pushing anti depressants and cognitive behavior therapy instead of talk therapy. Finally, we’ll hear the voice of political prisoner and award winning journalist Mumia Abu Jamal who has just co-written a new book with Stephen Vittoria called Murder Incorporated. It’s the first in a series of 3 books. Abu Jamal will read a section from the book.
