The California Senate has passed SB 562 – a landmark bill for a single payer healthcare system in the nation’s most populous state. On today’s show we’ll speak with Michael Lighty of National Nurses United about what the vote means and the political hurdles that remain. And, we’ll hear part 2 of a 2 part conversation with author Gordon Lafer on his book, The One Percent Solution: How Corporations Are Remaking America One State at a Time. Plus, Wonder Woman scores big at the box office becoming the single biggest opening for a film directed by a woman. We’ll turn to our film critic and pop culture correspondent Stephanie Abraham to find out if the female-centered superhero film lives up to the hype.
