Thousands Attend The People’s Summit in Chicago, Hopeful of Change

Thousands of people attended the People’s Summit in Chicago, Illinois this past weekend. Free Speech TV sent the Rising Up crew to cover it and on today’s show and for the rest of the week, we’ll be bringing you conversations from the activist gathering. First we’ll hear voices of some of the attendees. Then, journalist and best-selling author Laura Flanders will join us to discuss the UK election results and what lessons the left can learn. We’ll also turn to Chicago-based Black Lives Matter activist Ja’mal Green who has been targeted by police and the justice system for his activism. Finally, our pop-culture correspondent and film critic Stephanie Abraham joins us to discuss the new film Megan Leavey and how Hollywood has once more used war and imperialism as a mere backdrop.

Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.

  1. It is not bizarre that dogs and cats are so highly revered in the west. The animal embodies the innocence that humanity has pushed to the side. The animal isn’t evil, isn’t bad, does not hate are harbor I’ll will towards others for no reason. Humans do, humans mistreat animals, humans mistreat humans. Maybe have a show about just dog abuse across the world. It is quite prevalent. People revere animals because they aren’t ungrateful when receiving love. It’s not hard to see why humans can ignore other humans but will always revere animals. Humans are asshole.
