Governor Matt Bevin of Kentucky has dropped dental and vision coverage for 460,000 poor and disabled Kentuckians as a cruel and vindictive response to a judge’s ruling against his work requirements plan. On our show we’ll speak with Sam Brooke of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Then, our education correspondent Kevin Kumashiro will analyze several stories: how Oklahoma teachers fought back in the primary election, how the Janus decision affects teachers unions, and what Trump’s rollback of factoring race in college admissions means. Finally, acclaimed evolutionary biologist Paul Ehrlich joins us to discuss a fascinating new book he has co-authored with an orthodontist called Jaws: The Story of a Hidden Epidemic about how children’s mouths and jaws have changed their shapes as a result of industrial agriculture and how that affects everything from crowded teeth and face shapes, to long-term health problems.
