Rising Up With Sonali

In Choosing Perez Over Ellison, Did Democrats Seal Their Fate as Opposition Party?

Democrats chose Thomas Perez over Keith Ellison in DNC elections over the weekend. We’ll speak with analyst Doug Henwood about what it means for the future of the Democratic Party. Doug will also cover the recent Conservative Political Action Committee meeting and Donald Trump’s announcement of sharp increases to military spending. And, after a historic Academy awards night, we’ll turn to Darnell Hunt, the Director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA. We’ll speak with Darnell about the historic wins by so many black artists in the film industry as well as take a look at the annual Hollywood Diversity report that the Bunche center just released.

Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
