The brutal kidnapping, rape and murder of an 8-year old Muslim girl in Kashmir, India, has shocked Indians and prompted mass protests around the country. Despite the fact that laws have strengthened since a similar moment in 2012, sexual violence in India remains rampant. On our show today we’ll go to India to speak with Jayshree Bajoria. She wrote the Human Rights Watch report about sexual violence in India called Everyone Blames Me. Then, Jared Call with California Food Policy Advocates will explain the new Republican proposal to saddle food stamp recipients with even stricter work requirements and President Trump’s recent executive order calling for the same. Finally, Amy Siskind will join us to discuss her new book, a compilation of the first year of her viral weekly lists started in Fall 2016 to track news reports related to Trump’s misdeeds. Her book is called simply The List.
