Post-Maria Puerto Rico Updates, Black Panther Forced Eviction

Alexis R. Santos-Lozada is a demographer and professor at Pennsylvania State University. He joins us on the air this morning to discuss the unreported deaths missing from post-Maria estimates. Santos-Lozada found more than 1,000 deaths missing from the official count of Puerto Rican casualties from Hurricane Maria. Déborah Berman-Santana, retired professor of geography and ethnic studies at Mills College who is now living in her native Puerto Rico. She adds to the dialogue about the island after the devastating storm. Black Panther and legendary local activist Aunti Francis is facing forced eviction from her long-term residence in Oakland. Pushed out in spite of her special protections such as age and disability, Aunti Francis is organizing around her own eviction, speaking out about the issue as it relates to the sea of displacement facing Oakland and the greater Bay Area.
